Brown rats are renowned for feasting on garbage in cities around the world. But in Colombia, these same rats have inadvertently become the primary urban pollinator for the feijoa plant.
This plant produces a tropical fruit also known as pineapple guava that is widely consumed around South America and New Zealand.
Because all pollination happens inadvertently, pollinators don’t have to make any special effort to nevertheless be helpful.
Where could you have more impact just by being yourself than by trying?
